Hello Camp K Friends and Family,

We have some bittersweet news to share with you. As many of you know, we were unable to have programs this summer due to low camper numbers, low funds, and being unable to hire adequate staff. This summer the board has been praying about the future of what God wants for Camp K. We ultimately decided that we can no longer sustain our camp and programs.

We are very excited to share that we were put in touch with a camp program that has been looking for a new home of their own: Hiawatha Youth Camp (HYC). We have decided to transfer the camp over to HYC.

Here is a brief description of HYC:

Hiawatha Youth Camp has been in ministry for 62 years. This past summer they had around 70 kids per week. For the first 59 years of ministry they held camp at Piatt Lake in Eckerman, MI with the past three being held at Bambi Lake in Roscommon, MI. Over 20 first time decisions for Christ were made last summer with hundreds of other decisions made for deepening relationships with Jesus Christ from the young people that were with us. We currently have a podcast and youtube channel where we talk with some of the over 1,200 staff that have served with us and speakers from the past 60 plus years of ministry. You can find out more about HYC at hiawathayouthcamp.com.

We want nothing more than to see the campgrounds used to the fullest potential to serve God and spread the Gospel. We believe that this is the best way for that to happen. The way we learned about and were connected with HYC can only be explained by the direct intervention of God.

We thank you all for your support over the many years. I know this camp means a great deal to many of you. Many came to know Christ here, many learned how to lead and serve here, many have even met spouses here, and many lifetime friends were made here.

We thank God for the 86 years of ministry he blessed us with at Camp K. We also encourage you to consider getting to know, praying for, and supporting Hiawatha Youth Camp. They share the same ministry heartbeat as Kaskitowa and I cannot wait to see what God is going to do next here!

God Bless,

Richard Smith
